Art is revolution or it is nothing. Visionary art calls for deep change. Art is Politics. Personal politics. Moral politics. That’s why profoundly personal art is so threatening to the status quo.
I keep hearing that New York is over for the arts. New York is not over. There are thousands of amazing, insane, weirdly wonderful geniuses here. But we MUST organize. Artists of New York! We must confront the commercial art world with our own power. The Propaganda Ministry of the Commercial art world is the Mass Media. Mass Media is loud, but we can sing louder, paint louder, dance louder, organize louder!
We must come together often, with Art, with Action, with Audacity! We must put aside our cherished clique loyalties and forge a united cultural front.
